Our Farm's Story

We started with conventional farming, then we added cattle, then we added cover crops and agriculture as we knew it exploded. As years grew by, we saw more and more how the agriculture system we both grew up in was broken. It couldn’t support one family much less two or three. It wasn’t teaching our children to work with nature, it was trying to outsmart her. And year after year, Mother Nature would not be outsmarted and our first generation continued to carry the brunt of the punishment.

In January of 2021, Amos and Tina attended a program called Ranching for Profit. It may seem like an oxymoron to some but to the family of three and hopefully four, it was the only way they saw possible to continue their passion and bring their dreams to fruition.

Less than 10 years ago, Amos and Tina Troester struck out on their own to raise their family on their farm, land, and animals. Each brought dreams, passions, and together have transformed their path, mindset, and destiny to serving others in as sustainably, responsibly, and regeneratively as possible. They are passionate about giving families the opportunity to build their soils, increase the resilience of their family businesses, and improve the value on every acre.

Amos is a fourth-generation farmer who grew up on a dairy farm in Northeast Iowa. He fills his days planning and executing in the operation portion of the farm and business. Amos is passionate about soil, seed, cropping systems, and the benefits of livestock, both to the soil and to the bottom line.

Tina is a fifth-generation farmer who grew up on a dairy farm and then row crop and feeder pig farm in Northeast Wisconsin. She fills her days brainstorming, strategizing, and building plans for the farm. She carefully serves our land and animals through keeping the backside pieces together.

June and Sage are the why of our farm! They are the reason to start and end each day and we feel so blessed to have them to share this journey with.

As every farm should have, there is also a slew of wonderful, loyal dogs, supportive and somewhat needy cats, and for the first time in years, “working” cows!

Our Values

Responsibility

We feel so deeply that our responsibility here is to tenderly care for God’s land and animals. Rebuilding it to be successful for our current family and profitable enough to have a place for each next generation family to thrive. We believe this all comes from helping the soil to be as healthy as possible and to create a natural environment for our animals and plants to thrive.

Stewardship

We believe God has given us a tremendous opportunity to care for His land and animals. We are integrating regenerative practices like cover crops in our row crop and feed acres and intensive, adaptive grazing to enhance herd and pasture vitality and health.

Transparency

Our open doors are the best doors. Every corner and practice on our farm is open to visit and talk about! We also provide transparency in our meat business right on our labels and within our cover crop business by the products and systems we promote. No funny business here! Our animals and land are safe, healthy, happy, and flourishing.
